The Association’s Annual General Meeting was held at the Swan Hill Club on Wednesday, 19 August. With all executive positions declared vacant, it was time to form our team for the year ahead.
President
With long-standing President Robyn Wilkie stepping down, nominations were called for the role. Stuart Mitchell put his hand up and, being the sole nomination, was declared elected as our new President. A huge thank you to Stuart for stepping up to fill some very big shoes!
Vice President
Incumbent Vice President Ken Higgins put his hand up once again. With no other nominations, Ken was re-elected. Thank you, Ken, for your ongoing commitment, sharp insights, and willingness to take on the job once more.
Treasurer
Mark Bedggood stood for re-election as Treasurer. As the sole nominee, Mark was duly returned to the role. Congratulations and thank you, Mark, for keeping our finances in safe hands for another term.
Secretary
Then came the call for Secretary, and you could have heard a pin drop. After 15 years in the role, the outgoing Secretary had made it clear it was time to pass the baton.
After what felt like an eternity, long-standing member Lindsay McRae graciously agreed to step into the role for 12 months, requesting that someone else assist with minute-taking while he managed correspondence. Former Secretary Roger Day volunteered to take the minutes in the interim, and Lindsay was duly elected to collective relief across the room.
That relief, however, was brief! Upon reflection (and consultation with his better half), Lindsay rescinded his nomination. That left his assistant stepping back into the fray. So, after enjoying precisely one day off from the responsibility, Roger Day is back in the Secretary’s chair—though strictly for a 12-month tenure (or so he thinks)!
